We were weekend runners, fuelling long runs on bananas, a fistful of gummies, too much espresso. Energy gels made us feel sick. Sports drinks never felt like they were for us. We optimise every other part of our lives, so why was this the one thing that was patched together? We worked together too, and knew the same feeling by 3pm at our desks: birthday cake and an unwanted fourth coffee, just to get through the afternoon.
